We hiked The Narrows trail in Zion National Park at the tail end of the winter season. Zion is located in Southern Utah and is one of our favorite spots to go warm up while Montana is still covered in snow. We timed it during the kids spring break, which was the second week in March. While the crowds were minimal, the water was very very cold.
We hired the help of an outfitting company located right in Springdale, and they outfitted the whole family with drysuits, boots, and hiking sticks. It was truly an amazing experience to hike through The Narrows with hardly anyone around and feel so warm! The kids actually did great and we made it in about 4 or 5 miles. Kai opted to float most of his way out downstream. He got a lot of looks and made a lot of people smile as he floated on his back down the river. When can we do it again, Bryan?
