Since we were going to be in the area after I finished racing in The Rut Mountain Runs, we decided to take advantage of the long Labor Day weekend and play on Hebgen Lake. Located close to West Yellowstone, Hebgen Lake has great trout fishing in both the summer and winter. The water is beautiful, too. We happened to hit the tail end of a hatch and were thrilled! Kai brought in some giant fish and we cooked them up for dinner over our campfire along with lemon, onions, and fresh pepper. Yum!
Tip: Check the fishing forecast before you go. The fishing on Hebgen Lake changes drastically throughout the year.
Lodging: There are many cabins available for rent on AirBnb and VRBO. Go for the authentic experience and rent yourself a cabin, or set up at a campsite nearby.
